Quadri Connector for OpenRoads Designer v1.5 Release Notes

New & Improved

This Quadri OpenRoads Designer Connector release includes these new features and enhancements:

Updated Interoperability

• Connector now supports OpenRoads Designer 2022.

• Connector now supports Quadri 2023.

Improved Usability

• “Pick Objects” now resets when a new task is created. This will prevent you from
  selecting/sending data from a previous task by mistake.

Improved Quadri Data Transfer

• Better data transfer functions - These are now supported:

  • Arrays and Structs. now includes the option in Settings for evaluating EC properties.

  • Profile parabolas and arcs/parabolas at the start and end of profiles to Quadri.

  • Exporting additional elements from OpenRoads to Quadri, including:

    • B-spline curve primitives

    • TextNode element

    • Rotated text information

Fixed

This release also includes fixes for reported or discovered cases in which:

• Arrays and Stucts. failed to send to Quadri from ORD when multiple items were on an object.

• Conversion key values did not populate from the preview model for source sub-attributes on cells from OpenRoads to Quadri.

• A design file had elements with no Feature Definition.

• Alignments were being cleared by the Clear Task command.

• Objects picked were being persisted.

This Quadri OpenRoads Designer Connector release includes these new features and enhancements:

Simplified Connector Installation

• Automated Installation - When installing the OpenRoads Designer Connector, any prior versions are automatically removed and replaced. In prior releases, it was necessary to manually remove older versions prior to installation.

• Automatically Load Connector - While previous versions required users to manually key-in a load command, the Quadri OpenRoads Connector now loads automatically within OpenRoads Designer upon installation.

• Quadri Ribbon - Quadri Connector commands and functions can now be found within an integrated menu ribbon. This can be found by selecting “Quadri” via the drop-down list.

Quadri Ribbon Functions

• “Create Task” - You can create a “Connector Task” within Quadri from BentleyⓇ OpenRoads Designer. This eliminates the need to create tasks in Quadri before transferring data via OpenRoads Designer.

• “Select Task” - Select a Quadri task prior to sending/receiving data. This displays a drop-down list of available Connector Tasks within the Quadri model.

• “Receive from Quadri” - Receive task data from Quadri to OpenRoads Designer.

• “Settings” - Customize settings prior to sending data to the Quadri model.

• “Select Objects” - You can select which objects in OpenRoads Designer you would like to send to Quadri.

• “Send to Quadri” - Send data from OpenRoads Designer to the Quadri model.

• “Clear Task” - Clear out all data within the selected Quadri Connector Task.

Improved Quadri Data Transfer

• Progress Bar - Visually displays the progress of the data transfer taking place between OpenRoads Designer and Quadri for Windows. Enables you to cancel the data transfer if needed.

• Import/Export Summary - Displays items that were transferred and/or failed to be transferred to the Quadri model.

• Launch Conversion Rule Editor - When selected/enabled within the “Settings” dialogue, upon sending data from OpenRoads Designer to Quadri, the “Conversion Rule Editor” dialogue will launch within Quadri for Windows. This will allow you to modify conversion rules prior to sending data to the model.

Improved Notifications and Warnings

• Improved Send/Receive performance

• Identify when a selected task is reserved in Quadri upon “Select” and “Send”

• Inform the user if there are no Selected Objects to send to Quadri before attempting to gather geometries from the model instead of after.

• Identify when connection is not established between OpenRoads Designer and Quadri

• Notification confirms that a task has been created in Quadri

• Notification if there are no selected objects to send to Quadri before attempting to gather geometries from the model instead of after.

Miscellaneous Improvements

• Ensure previously selected objects are loaded automatically when a Quadri task is selected.

• Persist connector settings when Open Roads has been closed and reopened

• Receive Arcs in Alignment Profiles from Quadri

• Receive Design Curves from Quadri

• Export BREP cells to Quadri

General

NEW: The User Interface (UI) in Open Road only shows ORD tasks that are reserved by the User.
NEW: The selection of which element types to send to Quadri is stored on the task and used until the user changes the selection on what to send to Quadri.
NEW: It is now possible to read and send XAttribute/EC_Property to Quadri.

ENHANCEMENT: The content in the User interface (UI) is rearranged so it is easier to control what to send to Quadri. 

• • The UI reflects the structure of the featurized element types with a similar tree structure as in Open Road Explorer.

  • Non-Featurized element types are grouped by Level.

  • The UI only displays nodes for those element types that are supported by the connector.

ENHANCEMENT: The connector creates alignments with netElements in Quadri from alignments found in Open road.

• • A corridor with its reference alignment - (alignment inside current dgn or from a reference model) - can be sent to Quadri with features attached to netElement. 

  • Sending a corridor where reference alignment cant be found will be sent to Quadri as features without any link to netElement in Quadri.

FIXED: Several geometry issues related to Lines, Linear Complex, Surfaces and Solids.

KNOWN ISSUES:

• Only element types found in Active View in Open Road can be selected to be sent to Quadri.

• Meshes that are not “watertight” will not create a feature with a volume (Solid geometry). in Quadri, but will be sent to Quadri as surfaces.

• Mapping of properties from XAttribute/EC_Property  is missing in the conversion rule.

• Current elements from Open Road is not currently supported:

  • AnnotationGroup
