Orthophoto
Orthophoto can be displayed as a part of the model, either as background images in 2D, or draped to terrain surfaces in 3D.
Find it here:
The Orthophoto Tool
Before images can be displayed, a task defining the data source must be created with the “Orthophoto Tool” from the “Insert” menu.
Task
Templates: There are no default templates for Orthophotos, but it is possible to distribute such templates as part of a company configuration. User-defined templates will also appear in this list - see separate section.
Name - Give the task a descriptive name - e.g., “Orthophoto”. This is the name that will appear in the task tree.
Subtask of - Select the task from the dropdown list and your Orthophoto task will be stored as a subtask of this. By placing your cursor on a task when starting the Orthophoto tool, this will automatically be selected as default.
Orthophoto Source Paths
Orthophoto source files should be placed locally on each computer for optimal speed. The path container can hold several paths to support different locations by different users. We advise users to agree upon one path to put orthophotos. The path will be preceded by a green checkmark to indicate if there is a valid path on the current computer. If there are several valid paths in the task, only the first path will be checked and the orthophotos must be put here, if not they will not be found.
Add Path - Select the folder where the source orthophotos are located. All images must be contained within this folder along with geo-reference files if the format requires this.
Remove Path - It is not possible to edit a path if the source path is changed - e.g. if the images are moved to another folder or deleted. Use this function to remove the obsolete path, and then use the “Add Path” function to insert a new one. Be careful not to remove paths that belong to other users on shared worksets.
Data
Refresh - Removes the existing cache and starts generating new tiles.
Draping
Select features - If the orthophotos are to be draped on a surface for 3D viewing, select the features with this function. Draping will only work with surface features.
Finish
Preview 2D/3D - The result can be previewed in 2D/3D with this function. The preview button will not be enabled before the tool has the minimum necessary input. The 3D button will not be enabled if there is no surface attached.
Finish - This function will store the information to the task tree. The finish button will not be enabled before the tool has the minimum necessary input.
Using Orthophoto with models
The Orthophoto Task will appear in the task tree in the Explorer Window. Select any combination of data in the task tree (by pressing the Control key) together with the Orthophoto Task. Then right-click and select “View in 3D” or “View in Plan” to draw data. Orthophoto can also be stored in Plan Presentations or 3D Presentations.
Tile generation
The image tile generator is dynamic, It only generates the requested image tiles depending on your view and zoom level. First-time image generation may take a while, depending on the size and resolution of the source images. Once tiles are generated and loaded into the cache, views will reuse these at a much more sufficient speed.
Shared Worksets
Sharing of source and cached images is not supported by the current version. On shared worksets, only the tasks are shared, so each user must retain a folder with the source orthophoto images present.
Create user-defined templates
By right-clicking the Orthophoto Task and selecting “Save as Template” the setup will appear in the list of templates. They can now be reused to create new Orthophoto tasks in new Quadri models, given that they belong to the same CRS.
Supported formats
A complete list of supported formats can be found at http://www.gdal.org. In addition to these formats, the systems support georeferenced files of type SOSI and MMM.
Transformations
Transformations are not supported by the current version. The geo-referenced information must be of the same CRS as the Quardi Model.
Cache Management
There is no cache management in the current version.
