Cross Section

Create a Cross-Section presentation task if you need a permanent Cross Section presentation to be stored with the model.

Use this procedure to create a Cross Section presentation:

1. Click Cross Section.

2. Select a template (optional).

3. Give the Cross Section presentation a suitable task name.

4. Select a location in the process tree, or write a new location. If a summary task was selected before you clicked Cross Section, it will pick up this location. If not, the default will be the root task.

5a. Select a Baseline, or…

5b. Draw a Baseline using the Line or LineString command.

6. Change the start and/or end stationing/chainage, to shorten the section length (optional).

7. Set the distance between each section; the section interval.

8. Change the total width of the cross sections by defining a left and right distance, out from the baseline.

9. Change the bounding box of the cross sections. All objects with point geometry that fall inside this box, will be projected onto the section. By default, the depth is set to half the section interval distance (no overlap).

10. Select what features you want to cut through. By default, this is set to none. For optimal performance, select only relevant model content.

11. Select a presentation setup, that is, a drawing ruleset combined into one setup. The default presentation setup can be changed in Novapoint Options.

12. Click OK. The Cross Section window will be loaded.

Using Multiple intervals in the Cross Section Presentation

It is also possible to set multiple intervals of cross sections:

4. click OK to finish.

The set intervals are displayed, automatically sorted, in the ribbon. The sections are displayed in the Plan View, provided you are using the presentation rule Basic Map (or any other set to show the cross sections)
